Adjusting Stabilizer Cylinder Valve and Linkage

1. Completely lower basket.

NOTE: Hinge assembly (B) is located on left-hand side of machine between the basket and the engine hood.

2. Loosen screws (A) just enough so that contact lever hinge assembly (B) can be moved. With spring and rod (C) pushing the contact lever upward against the basket angle (D), push contact lever inward or outward until inner face of lever squarely contacts the outer face of the basket angle. Tighten hardware.

3. Position stabilizer valve (E) so that 5 mm (3/16 in.) of slot is visible above top of valve.

4. Tighten screws (F).

5. The pivot arm (B) should just touch the top of valve pin (A). If not, loosen jam nut (C) above ball joint. Thread rod in or out of ball joint until pivot arm just touches the valve pin. Tighten jam nut.

NOTE: Minimum thread engagement in ball joint is 3 full turns. If there is less thread engagement than 3 full turns when the pivot arm just contacts the valve pin, move the valve downward to allow more thread engagement of the rod in the ball joint.

Maximum thread engagement is approximately 16 full turns until the rod bottoms out in the ball joint. If the rod bottoms out in the ball joint and the pivot arm still does not contact the valve pin, move the valve upward to allow the pivot arm to contact the valve pin without reaching the end of the threads.

6. Loosen jam nut (D) located above compression spring (E). Tighten nut (F) above spring to compress spring to solid height, then back nut off five full revolutions. Tighten in place with jam nut (D).

7. Raise basket approximately 102 mm (4 in.) (enough to actuate the valve linkage). Valve pin should be bottomed fully (approximately 5 mm [0.20 in.] (A) of valve pin exposed).

8. Repeat stabilizer function test. If cylinder rod retraction (B) is 6 mm (1/4 in.) or less, machine is functioning properly. If cylinder rod retraction is greater than 6 mm (1/4 in.), see BLEEDING STABILIZER CYLINDER in this section.
