Replacing Primary Fuel Filter/Water Separator
1.
Thoroughly clean exterior of filter element (A) and mounting base (B). Also clean around filter mounting area.
NOTE:
Lifting up on ring as it is rotated helps to get it past the retaining detent.
2.
Rotate retaining ring (C) counterclockwise (left) 1/4 turn. Remove ring with filter element.
3.
Remove water separator (D) from filter element. Drain and clean separator. Dry using compressed air.
NOTE:
Indexing keys (E) on filter element insure proper alignment of filter to mounting base.
4.
Install water separator on new filter element.
5.
Index filter element until longer, vertical keys are oriented away from the engine. Insert filter element in mounting base until tight. It may be necessary to rotate filter for proper alignment.
6.
Install retaining ring on mounting base, making sure dust seal (F) is in place on filter base. Tighten retaining ring until it locks into detent position and a "click" is heard.
