Adjusting Toe-In

The 4 row 914 mm (36 in.) and 5 row 914, 965, 1016 mm (36, 38, 40 in.) spacing uses a slightly different procedure because they have a heavy duty tie rod. See ADJUSTING TOE-IN-HEAVY DUTY TIE ROD in this section.

1. Remove cap screws (A) from tie rod.

2. Loosen clamp (A).

3. Rotate tube (B) to lengthen or shorten tie rod to adjust toe-in to 3 to 10 mm (1/8 to 3/8 in.).

Tie-Rod-to-Toe-In -Dimensions 3-10 mm (0.1250-0.3750 in.)

4. Distance from center of inner tie rod end (A) to end of tie rod tube (B) must not specification (C).

Specification

Center of Inner Tie Rod End-to-Tie Rod Tube End -Maximum Distance (C) 48 mm (1-7/8 in.)

5. Tighten tie rod clamp cap screw to specification.

Specification

Tie Rod Clamp Cap Screw -Torque 47 N·m (35 lb-ft)

6. Install tie rod clamp cap screws in same holes as removed. If this cannot be done without throwing toe-in out of specification, install clamp cap screw in next set of holes and readjust at tie rod clamp end. Tighten clamp cap screws to specifications.

7. Check toe-in.
