1.
Check engine oil. See DIESEL ENGINE OIL in this section.
2.
Check coolant level and add if necessary. See DIESEL ENGINE COOLANT in this section.
IMPORTANT:
Check the overflow hose for kinks. Check the coolant level in the
|
overflow bottle. See CHECKING COOLANT LEVEL in ENGINE AND DRIVE TRAIN section.
3.
Check hydraulic/hydrostatic oil level. See HYDRAULIC/HYDROSTATIC OILS in this section.

 CAUTION:
Oil cooler/air conditioning condenser is heavy and can fall when latch is released, causing serious injury. Support properly before unlatching.
4.
Clean oil cooler and air conditioning condenser. Release latch (A) and carefully lower oil cooler/air conditioning condenser.

5.
Check primary (B) and final (C) fuel filters for water and sediment. Drain (or clean) if necessary.

| | A-Onboard Lubrication System

6.
Lubricate picker bars, sun gears, upper gear train and cam tracks using onboard lubrication system (A).
NOTE:
For details on the use of the onboard lubrication system, refer to OPERATING THE

ONBOARD LUBE SYSTEM in the ONBOARD LUBRICATION SYSTEM section.

7.
Close moistener system shut-off valve. Remove and clean strainer.
8.
Clean around base of rear basket cylinder.
|
9.
Clean around doffers, spindle moisteners, suction doors, unit drums and bottoms, and behind picker bars.

10.
Lubricate unit lift rockshaft bearings (four places).
11.
Lubricate basket rockshaft unload cylinder bearings, four places (two in front, two in rear). (Front shown.)

12.
Check basket conveyor chain tension.

13.
Clean lint and trash from the following areas: engine (A), alternator (B), cotton fan rotor (C), transmission (D) and brakes (E).

14.
Lubricate upper and lower crosses of unit drive universal joints (four places). Lubricate unit drive shaft slide.

15.
If oil type gear case equipped, check row unit oil level. With row units level, oil should be to center of sight glass (A). Remove plug (B) and add proper oil as needed. See ROW UNIT GEAR CASE LUBRICANT-OIL TYPE in this section. Install plug.
