Adjusting Boot on Single Disk Openers

1. Locate a flat, level surface; then lower the openers. Be sure machine is level (see PREPARING THE MACHINE in Preparing The Machine section).

2. Loosen nut (B) on disk hub and drawbar clamp cap screw (A).

3. Rotate each boot. Raise assembly UPWARDS and place a 19 mm (3/4 in.) spacer under the boot and scraper to obtain proper boot-to-ground clearance (A).

4. Lower the assembly until the bottom of the boot touches the spacer.

5. Tighten disk hub bolt and drawbar clamp cap screw.

Specification

Disk Hub Bolt -Torque 143 N·m (105 lb-ft)
Drawbar Clamp Cap Screw -Torque 115 N·m (85 lb-ft)

To make further adjustments in field, proceed as follows:

1. Scrape loose soil from behind opener with opener at working depth. Seed should be coming out at BOTTOM of furrow.

NOTE: If boot is adjusted TOO HIGH, seed will not be deposited at bottom of furrow. If boot is TOO LOW, rapid boot wear, plugging, and lack of disk penetration can result.

2. Adjust boot until seed is deposited at bottom of furrow.

3. Due to field conditions and disk blade wear, check boot adjustment periodically and adjust, if necessary.
