Using Seeding Charts

IMPORTANT: The rates shown in the charts are only to be used as a guide. Rates can vary due to size of seeds. See RATE CHECK-METHOD ONE and RATE CHECK-METHOD TWO in Operating The Machine section for accuracy.

1. Charts are based on machines in STANDARD-SPEED RANGE (Drive Numbers 1-6) and DOUBLE- SPEED RANGE (Drive Numbers 7-12). For half-speed attachment, divide rates in standard-speed range (drive numbers 1-6) by one-half.

To double drive shaft speed and seeding rates in charts, reverse gears in end panels. See SETTING DOUBLE-SPEED DRIVE FOR DOUBLE-RUN DRILLS in this section. Recalibrate machine to determine quantity sown per acre. Double the rates shown in charts.

2. Charts are based on machines with either 193 x 381 mm (7.60 x 15 in.) rib-implement tires OR 190 x 508 mm (7.50 x 20 in.) double-rib tires.

3. If machine is equipped with 193 x 381 mm (7.60 x 15 in.) double-rib tires, multiply chart rate by 0.94.

4. If machine is equipped with 190 x 508 mm (7.50 x 20 in.) rib-implement tires, multiply chart rate by 1.03.

5. Machine row spacing can be changed by using additional feed covers. See GRAIN FEED STOP in Attachment section.

6. Some seeds such as soybeans and peas vary widely in size. For such seed types, at a given kg per hectare (pound per acre) rate, the number of seeds planted per hectare (acre) will vary according to seed size.
