Setting Feed Shaft Speed
IMPORTANT:
Make sure drives on both sides of the machine are set the same.
STANDARD-SPEED (Drive 1 on the charts) and DOUBLE-SPEED (Drive 2 on the charts) are determined by the 15 (B) and 27-tooth (A) sprocket assemblies. Place chain on the large-upper and small-lower sprockets for Drive 1. Place chain on the small-upper and large-lower sprockets for Drive 2.
Feed shaft speed is determined by drive sprocket combinations AND the gear case. There are two different speeds available with the sprockets and 21 speeds per drive per row spacing available with the gear case. See SETTING FEED SHAFT GEAR CASE FOR FERTILIZER DRILLS in this section.
Use the STANDARD-SPEED drive whenever possible for maximum efficiency and to minimize wear. Use the DOUBLE-SPEED drive for drilling larger quantities.
