Transporting

causym CAUTION: When transporting the machine on a road or highway, use accessory lights and devices for adequate warning to operators of other vehicles. Check local governmental regulations. Various safety devices are available from your John Deere dealer. Keep safety items in good condition. Replace missing or damaged items.

NOTE: Always raise parking stands.

Use proper ballast for tractor stability and operate safely.

Be certain to latch tractor brakes together.

1. Attach tractor to machine (see Attaching Machine to Tractor section.

causym CAUTION: A runaway machine can cause serious injury or death to you or others. A safety chain will help control machine (B) should it accidentally separate from tractor drawbar (A) while transporting. Using the appropriate adapter parts, attach the chain to the tractor drawbar support or other specified anchor location. Provide only enough slack in the chain to permit turning. See your John Deere dealer for a chain with a strength rating equal to or greater than the gross weight of the towed machine.

2. Attach safety chain.

3. Raise openers, close lock-up valve (B) and fold markers (A).

causym CAUTION: When transporting the machine, openers must be fully raised, lock-up valve closed and markers folded. Serious injury or death to you or others could result from loss of control or falling markers.

causym CAUTION: Stands are heavy and need to be properly supported while removing and storing. Dropped stands can cause serious injury to you or others.

4. Remove pin and quick-lock pin (B) from stand (C) and strap (A).

5. Remove stand (C) by removing round head pin and spring clip (D) under footboard.

NOTE: On machines with two parking stands the right and left stands are different and cannot be stored (because of interference with openers) or installed on the opposite sides of the machine. Take notice of the angle of the foot on the stands.

6. Store stand (C) on front of box by sliding tube into wheel support. Pin in place with pins (B and D).

7. Pivot strap up fasten to box using cap screw and wing nut (E).

IMPORTANT: All stands must be raised or stored and pinned before transporting to prevent machine damage.

8. Keep SMV emblem and reflectors clean and in place at all times.

9. If machine is equipped with row markers, KNOW the transport height and width and be aware of overhead wires.

10. If the tractor SMV is missing or obscured, obtain an SMV from your John Deere dealer and install on rear of machine.

NOTE: If machine is transported with seed and/or fertilizer in the boxes, turn shaft, after reaching

destination, with clutch disengaged using a wrench, to be sure shaft turns.
