Adjusting Opener Down-Pressure and Seed Depth (Tractors With Open Center Hydraulic Systems)
IMPORTANT:
Valve (D) must be in closed position.
IMPORTANT:
Drill MUST BE equipped with open-center check valve kit if it is to be used with a tractor with an open-center hydraulic system. A open-center check valve kit and installation instructions are available from your dealer.
1.
Place tractor transmission in "park" and keep tractor running.
2.
Unfold the frame.
3.
Lower the openers, holding the SCV lever forward for a few seconds, then releasing. This pressurizes the opener down pressure system.
4.
Close valve (D).
5.
Adjust opener hydraulic down-pressure valve so that needle on pressure gauge (C) is at lower end of green area. To decrease down-pressure, turn valve adjusting knob (A) counterclockwise. To increase down-pressure, turn knob clockwise. One turn equals approximately 250 psi. Once set, lock knob in position with wheel (B).
NOTE:
The gauge needle will not move while the knob is being turned.
Then recharge the down-pressure system by raising and lowering the openers, holding the SCV lever forward for a few seconds to pressurize the opener cylinders. Recheck pressure gauge needle position.
