Reacting to Spindle Buildup

IMPORTANT: Moistener system must keep spindles clean and slick. If buildup and/or spindle wrap occurs, moistener columns and doffers can be damaged.

NOTE: The less solution used to keep spindles clean and slick, the less trash and mud buildup will occur. This may prevent excessive maintenance.

Initial adjustments for each item have been included in this section. Whenever spindle buildup is detected, review the following adjustments before proceeding with further adjustment.

Check tank ratio. (21.25 L [5-2/3 gal] of John Deere Spindle Cleaner per full tank).

Nozzle tip: Use Number 3 size tip for John Deere Spindle Cleaner. (Be sure tip and tip strainer are not plugged).

NOTE: If spindle buildup is observed, be sure you are using John Deere Spindle Cleaner and proper nozzle tips before proceeding.

At maximum throttle position, pressure reading on digital display (A) should be 138 kPa (1.4 bar) (20 psi). (Press switch (B) for solution pressure display).

Verify moistener columns are properly adjusted for height and position and moistener pads are not plugged.

2. Operate flush system 10-15 seconds at each basket unload.

3. Operate flush system for 4-5 seconds at each turn at one end of field only.

4. Operate flush system for 4-5 seconds at both ends of field.
