Flushing Cooling System

causym CAUTION: NEVER remove radiator filler cap while coolant or engine is hot. Explosive release of fluids from pressurized cooling system can cause serious burns to you or others. ALWAYS loosen water pump drain valve and engine block drain plug slowly to relieve any excess pressure. Add coolant directly into radiator when cooled.

1. Remove cover (A), and radiator cap (B).

2. Drain cooling system by opening engine block drain plug (C), water pump drain valve, and drain plug (D) on bottom of radiator.

3. Close drains and fill system with clean water.

4. Run engine until it reaches operating temperature.

5. Turn heater on and leave on until finished.

6. Stop engine and drain water out before rust or sediment settles.

7. Close drain plugs and fill system with a solution of clean water and John Deere Cooling System Cleaner or equivalent. Follow instructions provided with cleaner.

8. Drain system again.

9. Fill system with proper coolant. (See Filling Coolant System in this section).
