Using Machine with Hydraulic Wing Control Option
Optional hydraulic wing control valve (A) uses tractor hydraulic pressure and wing fold cylinders to adjust cutting force of wings.
IMPORTANT:
Hydraulic wing control is compatible only with tractors with closed center hydraulic systems or John Deere Pressure/Flow Compensating System. Damage could occur due to heat build-up if used with tractor equipped with open center hydraulic system.
Never operate machine in unfolded position with tractor SCV lever/switch in NEUTRAL position. (Dial gauge (B) will not indicate "neutral" position.)
Always place SCV lever/switch in either FLOAT or DETENT when machine is in unfolded position. Failure to position lever correctly could result in damage to wing-fold cylinders or frame.
When machine is in FOLDED position, be sure to attach wings by placing SCV lever/switch in neutral position.
A special rod end clevis is used on machines equipped with Hydraulic Wing Control. This clevis is pinned solid to wing frames and is identifiable by a grease fitting (C). NEVER operate tractor SCV lever/switch in "neutral" as this holds wing frame rigid and may result in cylinder rod damage.
FLOAT position turns off Hydraulic Wing Control and allows wings to flex and follow uneven ground conditions.
Machines not equipped with Hydraulic Wing Control use a slotted clevis (E) which does NOT have a grease fitting. This type clevis allows wings to flex and follow uneven ground conditions regardless of tractor SCV lever/switch position.
