Preparing Machine Checklist

At time machine is delivered, perform following checks to ensure proper initial machine operation.

1. Middlebreaker

Bottom edge of blade at same level as rest of blades.

Standard straight (not cocked left or right).

2. Level machine front to rear with tractor.

Turnbuckle in front hole

Raise machine to transport position.

Check to be sure pivot link is against stop (welded on main frame) in transport position. If not, turn crank clockwise until pivot link is against stop.

Adjust hitch turnbuckle until machine main frame is level front to rear (when viewed from side.)

3. Check that main frame is level side-to-side (folding machines ONLY.)

Measure distance between left-hand and right-hand axle spindle tubes and frame.

Distance between both axle spindle tubes and main frame should be equal within 6 mm (1/4 in.)

4. Level wing frames to main frame.

Stand behind machine.

Adjust eyebolt on each wing depth control cylinder until gang tubes are level side-to-side across width of machine.

5. Wing gang attaching point-Prescribed number of shims specified in this manual.

6. Hinge thrust washers-at each hinge, always next to main frame lug at crossbolt.

7. Hitch to main frame spacer washers-no gaps.

8. Wingfold stops-all four stands contact frame when folded.

9. Front-to-rear leveling (Crank Adjust)

Use a generous amount of grease on crank threads.

10. Front-to-rear leveling (Hydraulic Motor)

Threaded collar installed on leveling rod front spring.

Use a generous amount of grease on crank threads.

Hose ID kit installed.

11. Square washer used at wing fold cylinder clevis.

12. Tighten all hardware after initial set-up.

Tighten 1 in. wheel module bolts to specification.

Specification

Wheel Module Bolts -Torque 678 N·m  (500 lb-ft)

Tighten eight lock nuts at main frame wheel module rockshaft to specification.

Specification

Lock Nuts -Torque 204 N·m (150 lb-ft)

Tighten all gang attaching hardware (cap screws should be HEAD DOWN) to specification.

Specification

Attaching Hardware -Torque 407 N·m  (300 lb-ft)

Tighten frame hardware for two piece main frames to specification.

Specification

Frame Hardware -Torque 204 N·m  (150 lb-ft)

13. Hydraulic Wing Control (Optional Equipment)

Check that hose ID kit is installed on hoses, solid ends on cylinder rods and two instructional decals are installed near wing control valve.

Lock wingfold tractor control lever/switch (usually SCV II) in forward detent position. Hydraulic Wing Control will be engaged with lever in forward detent position. (See your Operator's Manual for proper positioning of control levers/switches.)

This is initial start point and will tell you if wing control is plumbed correctly and hose ID kit is properly installed on hoses.

Observing Hydraulic Wing Control gauge, turn knob on Hydraulic Wing Control valve, gauge will move between and PUSH WING . Position needle on Hydraulic Wing Control gauge on black band between and PUSH WING , this is initial starting point.

IN FIELD Check that above steps have been done. Always place wing control tractor control lever/switch (usually No. II) in FLOAT to start.

If machine performs properly, leave tractor control lever/switch in FLOAT.

If wings gouge or will not penetrate, lock tractor control lever/switch in forward detent position. Adjust knob on Hydraulic Wing Control valve as shown on instructional decal near control valve.

IMPORTANT: NEVER OPERATE WING CONTROL WITH TRACTOR CONTROL LEVER IN NEUTRAL POSITION. THIS LOCKS WINGS RIGID AND MAY BEND CYLINDER RODS IF AN OBSTACLE IS ENCOUNTERED.

(See PROBLEM/REMEDY CHARTS in Troubleshooting section to correct problems.)
