Installing And Bleeding Wing-Fold Cylinders

causym CAUTION: Escaping fluid under pressure can penetrate skin causing serious injury. Avoid hazard by relieving pressure before disconnecting hydraulic or other lines. Tighten all connections before applying pressure. Search for leaks with a piece of cardboard. Protect hands and body from high-pressure fluids.

If an accident occurs, see a doctor immediately. Any fluid injected in skin must be surgically removed within a few hours or gangrene may result. Doctors unfamiliar with this type of injury should reference a knowledgeable medical source. Such information is available from Deere & Company Medical Department in Moline, Illinois, U.S.A.

Cleanliness

When disconnecting hydraulic system for service, protect hose ends, tubing and components from contamination with clean, lint-free towels or clean plastic bags.

Before installing cylinders, flush inside of cylinders with clean diesel fuel or petroleum solvent for ten seconds minimum. Do not use, water, water soluble cleaners or compressed air.

1. Attach cylinder base end(s) to linkage, but leave rod end(s) detached.

2. Attach all hoses in hydraulic circuit.

3. Verify all wing-fold cylinders are on wood blocks, so rods can be extended and retracted without interference.

4. Connect hoses to tractor. Fully extend and retract all cylinders at least two times, maintaining hydraulic pressure at full extension for at least 30 seconds. Then extend cylinders one more time, maintaining pressure at full extension for one minute. This allows all air to escape from cylinders.

causym CAUTION: If cylinders are not bled as described above, wings could drop unexpectedly, causing injury or death to you or others.

To avoid injury or death, stand clear of machine when wings are being folded or unfolded. Mechanical or hydraulic failure can allow wings to fall rapidly and injure or kill you or others.

5. Attach rod end(s) of cylinder(s) to wings.
