Unit and Drum Clutch Slippage
CAUTION:
If you or others become entangled in moving parts of a unit, serious injury or death can result. DO NOT attempt to remove an obstruction from units unless:
Units are disengaged.
Transmission is in neutral.
Ignition is off and key is removed.
park brake switch is engaged.
When an obstruction enters a row unit, the drum clutch will slip causing the corresponding unit on overhead console to light and activate a continuous alarm.
IMPORTANT:
Row unit damage can occur. DO NOT operate units in reverse to remove obstruction. (See UNPLUGGING ROW UNIT in Row Units section.)
If clutch continues to slip after the obstruction is removed, check for additional plugging, bent picker bars, or misaligned doffer.
If machine is stopped in the row, operate units and fan until all cotton is doffed from the spindles and the suction doors are clean before starting to pick again.
(See your John Deere dealer if unit lights do not come on when unit(s) are obstructed.)
