Operating Onboard Lube System

1. Engage park brake switch and place transmission in neutral.

2. Operate engine at idle throttle.

3. Turn on onboard lube switch (A) and tether control switch (B).

4. Move hydro lever to inspection bypass position (C).

causym CAUTION: Verify park brake switch is engaged. The unexpected movement of the machine can cause serious injury or death to you or others. If the inspection bypass system does not operate exactly as described below, see your John Deere dealer.

Serious injury or death can result if you or others become entangled or are drawn into moving parts of unit. Keep away from all moving parts to prevent injury or death. Always keep inspection bypass cord away from moving parts on row units.

NEVER operate the inspection bypass while standing on top of row units or you or others can fall and become entangled in moving parts of unit causing serious injury or death to you or others.

5. Remove tether switch (A) from storage position in either Unit No. 2 or Unit No. 3. Stand clear of units. Keep thumb free of tether switch.

causym CAUTION: If you or others would fall or be pulled into an operating row unit, serious injury or death can result. Stay away from moving parts on an operating row unit. ALWAYS keep inspection bypass cord away from moving parts on row units.

NOTE: If units are turning too fast, system will shut down, all unit lights will be on and error code 181E will be displayed on tachometer. Reset tether switch button (A), move hydro lever to slower position and press any button on tachometer to clear error code. Resume tether operation.

6. Establish solid footing and clearance from moving parts, then depress tether switch button. Slow unit rotation will begin immediately and continue until the switch is released. Lube light on overhead alarm module will come on indicating grease is flowing.

7. Fresh grease should be present at two of the top six spindles at the dust collars. Verify every bar of every unit is greased properly.

8. Release tether switch button. Lube light and units should stop.

9. Check for fresh grease in upper drive gear area and cam tracks of all drums.
