On Board Air Foam Marker Operation

The foam marker system consists of a foam solution tank (A), a control unit (B), a switch in the multifunction control handle (C), the GREENSTAR display (D), two foam mixing heads (E), and two air shut-off valves (F), two collectors (G) or streamers (H) and interconnecting wire harnesses and hoses.

A filler cap is located at the top of the foam solution tank (A) for adding foam concentrate and water. Inlet and outlet ports are provided at the top and bottom of the tank respectively. Pressurized air flows through hose (I) to the solution tank inlet fitting and pressurizes the tank. Hose (J) is connected to the solution tank outlet fitting and carries pressurized foam solution to solenoid operated valves located in the control unit.

Vent valve (K) relieves pressure in the solution tank when filling the tank with water through fill port (L). Valve should be open when filling tank and closed when finished.

The control unit box contains right-hand and left-hand air shutoff valves, a high/low foam rate valve, an anti-siphon valve, an externally adjustable fluid flow control valve and interconnecting wiring and tubing.

Foam marker rate control is controlled through the SPRAYSTAR system. The operator has five choices, "OFF", "MANUAL-LOW", "MANUAL-HIGH", "AUTO-LOW", and "AUTO-HIGH". When "MANUAL-LOW" or "MANUAL-HIGH" is selected the operator controls which side of the marker system is producing and dropping foam. When "AUTO-LOW or "AUTO-HIGH" is selected the foam marker automatically switches from one side to the other when the solution master spray "ON/OFF" switch is turned on and off.

Switch (C) on multifunction control handle is used to select right-hand or left-hand foam markers. Foam marker system is off when both of switches are pushed.

The air tank provides pressurized air directly to the foam solution tank through hose (I) and to the foam heads (E) through hoses (M) and (N).

Pressurized air from hoses (O) and (P) pushes against a diaphragm inside shut-off valves (F), closing off the flow of fluid and air to the foam mixing heads (E). Pushing down on right-hand side of switch (C) on multifunction control handle cuts off air to the right-hand hose (O), thereby allowing air and fluid to mix and create foam for right-hand side. Pushing down on left-hand side of switch (C) on multifunction control handle cuts off air to left-hand hose (P).

High/Low foam rate, selected on SETUP page of SPRAYSTAR display, is used to choose between either a high flow rate or a lower adjustable flow rate. When the low rate is selected, the foam output is adjustable from fluid-flow control knob (Q) on the foamer power unit. Turning the rate control knob clockwise decreases the amount of foam in low position. Turning it counterclockwise increases foam rate. While in low, the foam rate can be adjusted from zero foam output to maximum output. While in high, foam liquid bypasses the fluid control valve and supplies maximum fluid flow.
