Attaching Machine to Tractor

CAUTION: Escaping fluid under pressure can penetrate the skin, causing serious injury to you or others. Avoid the hazard by relieving pressure before disconnecting hydraulic or other lines. Tighten all connections before applying pressure. Search for leaks with a piece of cardboard. Protect hand and body from high pressure fluids.

If an accident occurs, see a doctor immediately. Any fluid injected into the skin must be surgically removed within a few hours or gangrene may result.

CAUTION: Hydraulic hoses can fail due to physical damage, kinks, age and exposure. Check hoses regularly and replace as necessary.

NOTE: To help identify and properly connect hoses, AR103808 Hose Identification Kit is available from your John Deere dealer.

1. Connect opener down-pressure hoses to SCV I (A).

2. Connect cart raise/lower hoses to SCV II.

3. Connect fold/(marker if equipped) hoses to SCV III.

5. Raise or lower hitch (C) until hitch link (D) is aligned with tractor drawbar.

6. Back tractor into position and attach drawbar to machine with hitch pin (E).

CAUTION: Jackstand is heavy and needs to be properly supported when raising, lowering or storing.

8. Unpin front jackstand (A), raise to field position and lock in place with pin.

NOTE:

7. 6 m (25 ft) machine has one rear stand.

On machines with two parking stands the right-hand stand must be stored on the right-hand wheel support assembly (because of interference with drive shaft and acre meter). Take notice of the angle of the foot on the stands to determine right and left stands.

9. If machine is unfolded, unpin two rear stands (B) and place in storage position.

CAUTION: A runaway machine can cause serious injury or death to you or others. A safety chain will help control drawn equipment should it accidentally separate from the drawbar (A) while transporting. Using appropriate adapter parts, attach chain to tractor drawbar support or other specified anchor location. Provide only enough slack in chain to permit turning. See your John Deere dealer for a chain with a strength rating equal to or greater than gross weight of towed machine.

10. Route safety chain through retaining loop (B) and attach to tractor drawbar support (C) or other specified anchor location.

IMPORTANT: Be certain to check tractor hydraulic oil level after filling cylinders the first time.

NOTE: Down-pressure hoses should be attached to SCV I.

11. Raise openers fully and close opener lock-up valve (A).

CAUTION: Do not fold marker arms near electrical lines as serious injury or death could result to you or others if marker arms contact electrical lines.

NOTE: Pull knob (A) OUT to operate markers. Push knob IN to operate wing fold.

12. If equipped with hydraulic row markers, fold to transport position.

CAUTION: Cylinder lock-up clevises must be installed before adjusting or servicing in raised position to prevent the boxes from lowering on you or others causing serious injury or death.

13. Remove cylinder safety lock (A). DO NOT remove if machine is to be adjusted or serviced.
