Every 2000 Hours

1. Remove plug (A) and drain final drive oil. Install plug. Remove fill plug (B). Fill final drive to within 6 mm (1/4 in.) of bottom of fill hole. Install fill plug. (See FINAL DRIVE AND POWERED REAR AXLE LUBRICANT in Fuels, Lubricants, and Coolants section for proper oil specifications and MACHINE SPECIFICATIONS in Specifications section for refill capacity.)

2. Remove plug (A) and drain rear axle housing oil. Install plug. Remove fill plug (B). Fill axle housing until oil level is at the bottom of fill hole. Install fill plug. 3. Remove drain plug (A) and drain rear axle gearbox. Install drain plug. Remove level plug (B) and fill plug (C). Fill axle gearbox until oil level is at the bottom of level hole. Install level plug and fill plug. 4. Drain and replace axle planetary oil (A) as follows: (See FINAL DRIVE AND POWERED REAR AXLE LUBRICANT in Fuels, Lubricants, and Coolants section for proper oil specifications and MACHINE SPECIFICATIONS in Specifications section for refill capacities.)

  • Drain final drive when plug is at a "6 o'clock" position.
  • Fill final drive when the plug is at a "9 o'clock" position.

5. Check engine valve tappet clearance. (See your John Deere dealer.)
