Replacing Accessory Drive Belt-Alternator and Air Conditioning Compressor

Check Belt Tension Annually

 

NOTE: Air conditioner compressor and alternator share the same belt. Verify belt is in good condition.

Accessory drive belt is equipped with an automatic tensioner which DOES NOT require adjustment.

1. To replace accessory drive belt (A), rotate automatic tensioner (B) by placing 1/2 in. breaker bar in tension arm.

2. Remove belt from drive sheave.

3. Relax breaker bar tension and remove belt from alternator and air conditioning compressor sheaves.

4. Install new belt in reverse order of removal.
