Preparing Machine for Storage

If machine will not be operated for 30 days or more:

1. Clean machine thoroughly inside and out to prevent rust.

2. Clean spindles.

IMPORTANT: Lubricate row units thoroughly after washing to protect against corrosion.

Do not direct high pressure spray at gearcase seals or gearcase vents.

3. Wash row units thoroughly, inside and outside. Make sure they are thoroughly dry. Spray entire picking mechanism with a rust-preventive oil.

4. Lubricate machine completely. Grease threads on bolts used for adjustments. Run row units until all parts are thoroughly lubricated.

IMPORTANT: Solution pump damage can occur if pump is operated without water in system.

5. Drain and refill moistener system:

a. Drain moistener system tank and lines by removing strainer (A), opening valve (B), drain plug (C) and drain valve on pump (D). Replace strainers and close drain valves.

b. Mix RV environmentally safe antifreeze to protect moistener system at lowest expected temperatures. Mix according to manufacturer's directions.

c. Pour appropriate mixture of RV antifreeze into moistener system tank. Operate system to circulate antifreeze through lines and nozzles.

6. Repaint where necessary.

7. Support row units with blocks.

8. Block machine to take load off tires. Do not deflate tires. If machine is stored outside, remove wheels and tires and store them in a cool, dark place. Do not store tires in contact with blacktop or other oil stabilized surfaces.

9. Loosen all belts.

10. Clean oil cooler.

11. Order repair parts for next season.
