Preparing Engine for Storage
CAUTION:
Gasoline is highly flammable and can cause serious injury or death to you or others if ignited. Do not use gasoline as a cleaning agent when preparing engine for storage.
1.
Wash outside of engine thoroughly with a safe solvent.
2.
Clean or replace the air cleaner. (See REMOVING AND REPLACING AIR CLEANER ELEMENTS in Engine and Drive Train section.)
3.
Drain crankcase with engine warm. Replace filter and fill crankcase. (See EVERY 250 HOURS OF OPERATION in Lubrication and Maintenance section.)
IMPORTANT:
DO NOT drain cooling system to protect against freezing. Cab heater does not drain completely, so damage would result.
4.
Drain, flush, and refill cooling system with proper coolant. (See FLUSHING COOLING SYSTEM and in Engine and Drive Train section.) Turn heater on and run engine until it reaches operating temperature.
