Attach Anhydrous Ammonia Tank

causym CAUTION: Read all information in Safety section before working with anhydrous ammonia systems. Exposure to anhydrous ammonia can cause serious injury or death to you or others. Always wear protective clothing and equipment. (See WORKING WITH ANHYDROUS AMMONIA in Safety section.)

1. Position tank and machine DOWN WIND from where you are standing.

causym CAUTION: A safety chain will help control drawn equipment should it accidentally separate from rear hitch while transporting. A runaway machine can cause serious injury or death to you or others. Use appropriate adapter parts, attach chain to tractor rear hitch. Provide only enough slack in chain to permit turning. See your John Deere dealer for a chain with a strength rating equal to or greater than gross weight of towed machine.

2. Attach anhydrous ammonia tank to rear hitch using locking pin and secure with safety chain. Consult anhydrous ammonia dealer on securing safety chain correctly to hitches.

causym CAUTION: Carrying supply hose by valve handle (B) can lead to exposure to anhydrous ammonia and cause serious injury or death to you or others. Always hold supply hose away from valve.

NOTE: Emergency disconnect is designed to pull apart in event of a hitch failure and is not a recommended connection point. All lines MUST be bled prior to reinstalling or assembling supply hose.

4. Make sure bleeder valves (A) on the supply hose and emergency disconnect (C) are closed. Make sure MASTER switch in cab is turned OFF.

causym CAUTION: Verify O-ring (A) is present on tank withdrawal valve and in good condition. Faulty or missing O-rings can cause anhydrous ammonia leaks. Exposure to anhydrous ammonia can cause serious injury or death to you or others.

5. Hook supply hose to tank.

causym CAUTION: Open nurse tank valve ONLY when applying. Close nurse tank valve ALWAYS before transport. Transporting machine with valve open could allow for large quantities of anhydrous ammonia to be accidentally released. Exposure to anhydrous ammonia can cause serious injury or death to you or others.

6. SLOWLY open tank withdrawal valve (A) and inspect for leaks.

7. SLOWLY open supply hose valve (B) and inspect for leaks.

8. Open tank valve completely.
