Prepare To Operate Machine In Field

Verify the following procedures are completed:

  • Set machine depth.
  • Level machine side to side.

1. Make one adjustment at a time.

2. There are many adjustments that can be made based on operator preference. Making one adjustment can require readjustment of other settings and the following instructions are to be used as a STARTING POINT .

3. Make sure tractor and machine are properly prepared. (See Preparing Tractor and Preparing Machine sections.) Attach machine to tractor following procedures in Attaching and Detaching section.

4. For rate controller and anhydrous ammonia applicator, refer to manufacturer's operation manual.

5. OPEN transport lock-up valve (A) by turning handle in-line with valve.

causym CAUTION: To help prevent severe injury or death to you or someone else:

Before operating machine, make sure air has been bled from wing-fold hydraulic system.

Keep all persons away from machine when raising and lowering wings.

Always locate machine on level ground when raising and lowering wings.

Never raise or lower wings when moving.

NOTE: Setup panel can be used to enter time for SCV I to command flow. Detenting rearward and releasing after time-set will cause wing to fold and return tractor to low-pressure standby once time has expired.

6. WINGS ONLY- With machine on level ground and wing area clear of bystanders, push SCV I tractor control lever (A) forward to lower wings and fully extend cylinders.

7. High Speed Fertilizer Openers Lower openers to set working depth.

causym CAUTION: DO NOT adjust machine while in motion. Falling off a moving machine can result in serious injury or death to you or others. ALWAYS stop tractor and lower machine BEFORE adjusting.

NOTE: For consistent single point performance, always move tractor control lever rapidly from neutral to lower position.

8. Use the following procedure when making initial depth control adjustment.

9. Make a 6-9 m (20-30 ft.) pass at proper operating speed 8-13 km/h (5-8 mph).

10. Place tractor transmission in PARK and/or set brakes.

11. Dig behind opener and measure operating depth from bottom of strip to soil surface. If opener operating depth needs adjusting, revise down pressure accordingly and repeat process. If no adjustment is necessary, continue with machine preparation.

12. Operate machine at normal speed and raise and lower machine to confirm depth setting.

Pull SCV II (A) rearward to raise openers, then forward to lower openers. Confirm depth setting.

IMPORTANT: Be sure to rephase depth control cylinders periodically.

Rephase cylinders by holding depth control lever for a few seconds after machine has been fully raised. Release control and allow at least three seconds for cylinders to settle past rephasing grooves before lowering machine to operating depth.
