Preparing For Storage

causym CAUTION: Applicator knives and hoses may be under pressure resulting in rapid discharge of anhydrous ammonia and cause serious injury or death to you or others. ALWAYS verify applicator system is properly bled BEFORE adjusting components. (See BLEED ANHYDROUS AMMONIA in Service section.) When working in vicinity of anhydrous ammonia applicator, wear protective clothing and equipment. (See WORKING WITH ANHYDROUS AMMONIA in Safety section.)

1. Bleed Anhydrous Ammonia from system BEFORE performing any other steps. (See BLEED ANHYDROUS AMMONIA SYSTEM in Service section.)

2. Clean and store machine on a hard surface in a dry place, if possible.

3. Lubricate High Speed Fertilizer Openers and wheels. (See Lubrication section.)

4. Inspect for loose or damaged parts; replace and tighten as required.

5. Repaint as necessary to prevent rust.

6. Coat High Speed Fertilizer Openers disks with John Deere Soft Black Coating or grease or oil.

7. Apply grease to exposed area of hydraulic cylinder rod(s).

8. If wings are folded, verify transport lock-up valve is closed. Before disconnecting folding cylinder hydraulic hoses, relieve pressure by either positioning SCV lever in FLOAT position or turn tractor engine off and cycle lever back and forth three times.

9. Temporarily FLOAT SCV I to relieve depth control pressure and disconnect hoses from tractor.
