Adjusting 3 and 6-Bar Spike

IMPORTANT: Before making adjustments to any harrow be sure the fore-aft and side-to-side, and disk gang adjustments on machine have been completed. Refer to Preparing Machine Section.

causym CAUTION: Sharp spikes can puncture your foot or cause other personal injuries. Wear protective clothing, eye protection and gloves when working around harrow.

Harrow performance is affected by a variety of field conditions including residue, moisture, and soil type as well as operating parameters such as speed and depth. Finding the right combinations of harrow adjustments for each condition is critical to obtain optimum performance.

IMPORTANT: When making harrow adjustments only change one adjustment at a time. Run machine at desired working depth and speed between adjustments to verify performance.

1. HARROW HEIGHT- Harrow height is preset. Once desired working depth is set, spikes will be 51-101
mm (2-4 in.) (B) lower than sweeps when swept to working spike angle position.

HARROW DRAFT- Set chain (B) for desired harrow draft.

2. SPIKE ANGLE- Controls harrow aggressiveness and residue flow capability. Spike angle should be adjusted per field conditions for best combined performance of residue flow and field leveling.

Adjust spike angle by raising machine and move pin to desired position (A) least aggressive, (B) medium aggressive, (C) most aggressive. Initial recommended tine angle is third hole from rear of machine.

NOTE: For better residue flow use less aggressive settings.
