Header Height Control Theory Of Operation

The header height control system is an electro-hydraulic system that maintains the left and right toolbar height so row units are maintained at optimum height for picking cotton.

Header height control calibration procedure should be performed at the beginning of each season, or if a component of the system is replaced. (See CALIBRATE HEADER HEIGHT CONTROL in this section.)

Units height adjust buttons (C) and display/setpoint encoder (B) allow the operator to adjust and maintain the optimum height for the left- and right-hand row units on the plants.

Height sensing response rate dial (D) allows the operator to adjust how fast the row units react (raise/lower) (+/-) to changing ground conditions while in the height sensing mode of operation. (See HEADER HEIGHT CONTROL RATE RESPONSE ADJUSTMENT in this section.)

Header height control system is activated when the operator lowers units using the all units lower switch (G) when units are engaged. System is deactivated when the operator raises the units using the all units raise switch (E).

Left-hand or right-hand row units may be raised individually by pressing their respective switches (F or H). When using these switches, header height control is deactivated only on the row units being raised. Header height control is reactivated to those units when they are lowered using the all units lower switch (G).

EXAMPLE: Press corresponding switch to raise right-hand or left-hand units to desired height, release button. Press and release the all units lower switch to lower units to their preset height and resume automatic operation.
