Servicing Coulter Bearings

Keep coulters sharp and properly lubricated.
If there is any looseness in bearing, clamp coulter in vise.
Disassemble, clean, and repack with John Deere High Temperature/EP
or an equivalent SAE grease.
Tighten 5/8 in. Grade 5 slotted nut to specification.

Replace cotter pin in slotted nut to hold nut in
position. Insert cap in hub.
Anti-friction bearings are packed with grease at factory. Inspect
bearing and adjust if necessary every 100 hours. Before each tillage
season or every 200 hours, whichever comes first, perform following:

Disassemble bearing

Clean bearing
-
Repack bearing
NOTE: Check nuts on coulter cap screws periodically for tightness.
