Replacing Shear Bolts—Standards

1. IMPORTANT: Use specified hardware grade to prevent machine damage.

   NOTE: It may be necessary to loosen cap screw (B) to remove shear bolt. Verify cap screw is tighten to specification when completed.

   
   N78040-UN-19OCT07

   Shear Bolt Standard—19 mm (3/4 in.) or
   32 mm (1-1/4 in.)

   
   N78041-UN-19OCT07

   Cushion Trip Standard—19 mm (3/4 in.) or
   32 mm (1-1/4 in.)

   A - Shear Bolt, Grade 5, 5/8 x 5-1/2 in.

   B - Cap Screw Grade 8, 1 x 8 in.

   Replace shear bolt (A) in shear bolt or cushion trip standards with 5/8 x 5-1/2 in. Grade 5 bolt.

2. Tighten nut to specification.

   Shear Bolt	Torque	217 N·m (160 lb-ft)

3. Tighten 1 x 8 in. Grade 8 cap screw (B) to specification if loosened when replacing shear bolt.
