Troubleshooting

SymptomProblemSolution

Machine does not follow tractor in straight line (dog tracks).

3-Point hitch lift links not set properly on tractor.

Set lift links. (See your tractor Operator's Manual.)

Standards not spaced properly.

Space standards evenly.

Stabilizer wheels not set properly.

Set both stabilizer wheels at same depth. (See ADJUSTING STABILIZER WHEELS in Operating Machine section.)

Using tractor with insufficient power and/or inability to mount enough ballast to stabilize machine operation.

(See TRACTOR SIZE RECOMMENDATIONS in Specifications section. See Preparing Tractor section for adjusting weight and ballast.)

Machine does not penetrate.

Points worn.

Inspect points. As points wear, tip machine forward to improve point penetration. Wingless points might be needed for maximum penetration in hard soil conditions.

Machine not level.

Verify main frame is level side-to-side and front-to-rear. (See LEVELING MAIN FRAME in Operating Machine section.)

Excessive shank and/or wear shin wear in abrasive soil conditions.

Shank sides and wear shin leading edge show wear.

Order heavy-duty cast wear shin.

Drawn machine not level side-to-side.

Incorrect number of cylinder depth stops.

Place same number and size of depth stops on each cylinder.

Unequal tire pressure in all four tires.

Check tire pressure. (See CHECKING TIRE PRESSURE in Preparing Machine section.)

Machine raises unevenly.

Fully raise machine out of ground, then lower to desired depth.

Drawn machine chatters when lowering.

SCV is not set to full flow.

Adjust SCV to full flow.

Improper orifice installation.

(See DRAWN MACHINE CHATTERS WHEN LOWERING in this section.)

Wings on drawn machine ride out of ground.

Wing-fold cylinders set in FLOAT position.

Place cylinders in NEUTRAL position.

Points worn out.

Change points.

Excessive surface disturbance when using 19 mm (3/4 in.) standards.

Excessive speed.

Reduce speed to 6.5 km/h (4 mph).

Tractor not set correctly.

Make sure main frame is level side-to-side and front-to-rear. (See LEVELING MAIN FRAME in Operating Machine section.)

Certain conditions may require machine to be angled slightly rearward to achieve desired surface profile.

Machine not set correctly.

Adjust depth of coulter to 152 mm (6 in.).

Align coulter with center of standard. (See ADJUSTING SPRING CUSHION COULTERS in Operating Machine section.)

Install optional closing wheels for additional surface leveling.

Standards not set up with Ultra Low Disturbance points and shins.

Install Ultra Low Disturbance points and shins.

Inconsistent drawn machine point depth

Ripper points continuously take ground aggressively. Points run deeper than original depth, then points run shallower. Process continues to be repeated.

Tilt machine reward.

Install wingless points.
