Leveling Main Frame, Front-to-Rear—Drawn

  1. CAUTION: Do not unscrew turnbuckle (A) to expose more than 86 mm (3-3/8 in.) of thread on either eyebolt. Eyebolts may pull out of tube ends, resulting in machine dropping unexpectedly and causing serious injury or death to you or others.

NOTE: Machine may need adjusting when moving from field to field, when using a tractor with a different drawbar height, or when gauged depth setting is changed.

Preliminary leveling may be done before going to field, but a final leveling must be performed with machine in field while operating at approximate working depth.

For best performance, frame should be level or tipped slightly rearward. Tipping machine rearward reduces surface disturbance.

View machine from side to check if machine is level front-to-rear. If performing final leveling in field, have a person view machine as it is operating at approximate working depth.

    A - Turnbuckle

    B - Turnbuckle Lock

    C - Wrench

    D - RAISE FRONT Arrow

    E - Grease Fitting

  2. Raise machine out of ground, then rest on ripper standards. This removes load from turnbuckle, allowing it to turn easily.

  3. NOTE: Direction RAISE FRONT arrow (D) is pointing is machine specific. Arrow will point in opposite direction on some machines.

Raise turnbuckle lock (B), and turn turnbuckle with wrench (C) to adjust machine front-to-rear as follows:

    • If front of machine is low, turn turnbuckle in direction of RAISE FRONT arrow.
    • If front of machine is high, turn turnbuckle in opposite direction.

  4. IMPORTANT: Failure to position grease fitting (E) up or down before engaging turnbuckle lock will result in damage to fitting.

When machine is level, lower turnbuckle lock.
