Adjusting Outer Fold Cylinder

Park machine in area with adequate room to fold and unfold boom.


Adjusting Cylinder for Unfolded Boom Position

    A - Location

    Unfold boom completely.



  2. Verify stop bolt adjusted correctly. (See Adjusting Stop Bolt in this section.)

  3. Push boom forward, by hand, at outer end of outer boom.

    1. If boom stays in contact with boom stop bolt at location (A), then cylinder is adjusted correctly. Proceed to Adjusting Cylinder for Folded Boom Position.

    2. If boom does not stay in contact with boom stop bolt at location (A), then cylinder is adjusted incorrectly. Continue with this procedure to adjust cylinder.

    A - Nut

    B - Cylinder Rod

    Fold boom slightly to relieve pressure on cylinder.



  5. Loosen jam nut (A) and rotate cylinder rod (B) to extend length.

  6. Tighten jam nut to specification.

  7. Unfold boom completely.

  8. Push boom forward, by hand, at outer end of outer boom.

    1. If boom does not stay in contact with boom stop bolt repeat steps for lengthening cylinder. Repeat as necessary.

    2. If boom stays in contact with boom stop bolt, then cylinder is adjusted correctly. Proceed to Adjusting Cylinder for Folded Boom Position

    A - Boom Stop

    Fold outer boom to inner boom. Verify boom stop (A) is contacting inner wing tube on top or side.

    1. If boom stop is not contacting inner wing tube, cylinder needs to be adjusted. Continue procedure.

    2. If boom stop is contacting inner wing tube continue procedure.



  2. Pull outer wing away from inner wing.

    1. If outer boom stop stays in contact with inner wing tube at top or side location (A), then cylinder is adjusted correctly.

    2. If boom stop is not contacting inner wing tube, cylinder needs to be adjusted.

    Unfold boom slightly to relieve pressure on cylinder.



  4. Loosen jam nut (A) and rotate cylinder rod (B) one turn to shorten length.

  5. Tighten jam nut to specification.

  7. Pull outer wing away from inner wing.

    1. If outer boom stop stays in contact with inner wing tube at top or side location (A), then cylinder is adjusted correctly for folded position. Perform Adjusting Cylinder for Unfolded Boom Position to verify cylinder correct for unfolded position.

    2. If outer boom stop does not stay in contact with inner wing tube repeat steps for shortening cylinder. Repeat as necessary.
