Checking Doffer Column Height

Operating with doffer column adjusted too low results in excessive doffer pad, spindle bushing, and barb wear. If doffer column is adjusted too high, spindles WILL NOT doff properly. DO NOT operate without doffer column properly adjusted.

Verify proper doffer column height adjustment as follows:

  1. Check spindles for wrap at each basket unload.

  2. Verify that a slight drag is felt as spindles lightly touch leading edge of doffer pads.

NOTE: Make sure air and moistener systems are operating properly and correct moistener solution is being used before adjusting doffer column height.
