Winterizing Cooling System

IMPORTANT: DO NOT drain cooling system to protect against freezing. Operator's station heater does not drain completely. Damage to cooling system can result.

Stop-leak additives can plug radiator, causing overheating and engine damage. DO NOT use coolants that contain a stop-leak additive.

  1. Be sure that cooling system has sufficient coolant before cold weather. Add only specified coolant. (See HEAVY DUTY DIESEL ENGINE COOLANT in Fuels, Lubricants, and Coolants section.)

    A - Heater Switch

    After adding coolant, turn heater switch (A) on and run engine until it reaches normal operating temperature to mix solution uniformly and circulate it through entire system.
