A - Flange Head Cap Screw
B - Adjusting Holes
CAUTION: If a unit falls or you or others become entangled in
the moving parts of a unit, serious injury or death can result. DO
NOT attempt to remove an obstruction unless units are disengaged,
engine is stopped, multifunction control handle is in NEUTRAL, park
brake switch is engaged, and key is removed. Lower units to ground
or install unit safety stops.
-
Stop machine and lower units to ground or install safety stops.
Shut off engine and remove key.
-
Inspect unit and remove obstruction, if possible.
If obstruction cannot be easily removed, do the following:
-
CAUTION: Shaft is under spring tension. When flange cap screw
is removed, shaft can spin quickly and release spring tension. Avoid
serious injury or death to you or to others from flying parts. Control
shaft from releasing spring tension by securely holding wrench in
position on top of shaft.
Release all tension on pressure plate by removing flange head
cap screw (A). Note that adjusting holes (B) are not threaded.
-
Manually turn drum in reverse. (Rotate doffer shaft with open-end
wrench.)
-
Apply physical force to a picker bar to rotate drum backwards
if obstruction is still not released.
-
Clean and inspect unit.
-
Repair all damage to unit.
-
Reinstall and adjust all parts removed.
If clutch continues to slip after obstruction is removed, check
for plugging, bent picker bars, or misaligned doffer.
If machine was stopped in the row, operate fan and units until
all cotton is doffed from spindles and suction doors are clean before
starting to pick again.
