IMPORTANT: To avoid damage to engine, precautions must be taken
when starting an engine in cold temperatures. (See STARTING ENGINE
IN COLD WEATHER and WARMING ENGINE in this section.)
-
Position multifunction control handle (A) in neutral.
-
Place fan switch (B) and row units switch (C) in off position.
-
Turn off all accessories such as radio, lights, heater/air conditioning
fan, and windshield wiper.
-
Turn key switch (D) to RUN position and wait a few seconds for
controllers and display to power up.
-
Press low engine speed button (E).
-
CAUTION: Sound horn before starting engine to warn others to
stay clear from machine.
To avoid the possibility of personal
injury or death, start engine ONLY from operator seat. Do not start
engine by shorting across starter terminals. Machine can start in
gear if bypassed.
Sudden machine movement can result in serious injury or death
to bystanders. Verify that park brake is engaged and that no one is
standing near machine when engine is started.
IMPORTANT: To prevent starter damage, do not operate starter
for more than 30 seconds at a time. If engine does not start, wait
at least 2 minutes before trying again.
Sound horn and turn key switch to START position.
-
NOTE: If stop engine warning occurs, diagnostic trouble codes
are displayed on armrest display unit (ADU). The display stops normal
functions, indicating that a problem exists that requires stopping
the machine and correcting the problem immediately. Codes are displayed
until the problem is resolved. If problem cannot be resolved, see
your John Deere dealer.
Release key after engine starts and let engine run at slow idle
until it reaches normal operating temperature. (See WARMING ENGINE
in this section.)
