Idling Engine
IMPORTANT: Avoid excessive engine idling. Prolonged idling can
cause engine coolant temperature to fall below normal. Low coolant
temperature causes crankcase oil dilution, due to incomplete fuel
combustion, and permits formation of gummy deposits on valves, pistons,
and piston rings. It also promotes rapid accumulation of engine sludge
and unburned fuel in exhaust system.
Allowing the engine to operate at slow idle speed for long periods
of time uses fuel inefficiently and can cause a buildup of carbon
in the engine.
If machine must be left with engine running for more than 5
minutes after engine is warmed to normal operating temperature, shut
off engine and restart later.
