Header Height Control

SymptomProblemSolution

Units will not lower.

Switch stuck on multifunction control handle.

Inspect control handle for cause of sticking switch. Clean or replace multifunction control handle as necessary.

Shoes hanging up in raised position.

Adjust linkage so that shoes and linkage move freely.

Break in power to valve coil.

Inspect electrical connectors and harness. Repair as needed.

Lift frame cylinder safety stops lowered onto rods.

Raise safety stops.

Valve command gain set too low.

Check setting of Height Sensing Response Rate Dial.

Units will not raise.

Break in power to valve solenoid coil.

Inspect electrical connectors and harness. Repair as needed.

Units lower too slowly.

Header height system requires calibration.

Calibrate header height system. (See HEADER HEIGHT CONTROL CALIBRATION in Header Height Control section.)

Units raise slowly.

Header height system requires calibration.

Calibrate header height system. (See HEADER HEIGHT CONTROL CALIBRATION in Header Height Control section.)

Lift frames squeak when raised or lowered.

Lift arms require lubrication.

Lower row units onto suitable blocks to remove weight from pivot joints. Apply grease through remote lubrication line fittings on left-hand side of machine chassis.

Header height control system is unstable when entering rows.

Initial response rate setting or time setting in control unit HIC requires adjustment.

Adjust duration setting in HIC address 113 and initial response sensitivity setting in HIC address 114 as needed. (See HEADER HEIGHT CONTROL INITIAL 10 SECOND RESPONSE RATE ADJUSTMENT in Header Height Control section.)

Header raises slowly on turn row or when cotton handling system is running.

Auxiliary hydraulic pump may be flow limited. Low yield or flat ground can exaggerate this situation.

Adjust HIC manual sensitivity.
