IMPORTANT: Moistener system must keep spindles clean and slick.
If buildup is allowed and spindle wrap occurs, moistener columns and
doffers can be damaged.
NOTE: The less solution used to keep spindles clean and slick,
the less trash and mud buildup occurs. Less buildup results in less
maintenance.
Whenever spindle buildup is detected, review the following operational
checklist and correct any problems found before changing operating
parameters. If necessary, enact operating parameter changes one step
at a time until spindle buildup is minimized.
Operational Checklist
□
Solution mix ratio. Mix solution in
moistener tank at ratio of 21.25 L (5.6 gal.) John Deere Spindle Cleaner
per 1363 L (360 gal.) (full tank) water.
□
Nozzle size. Use Number 3 size tip
for John Deere Spindle Cleaner. (Be sure tip and tip strainer are
not plugged.)
□
Cleaner. John Deere Spindle Cleaner.
□
Moistener system pressure. Press solution
pressure button (A) to view pressure on display unit (B). Verify that
system pressure is approximately 138 kPa (1.4 bar) (20 psi) with engine
operating at high speed throttle position.
□
Moistener column. Verify that moistener
columns are properly adjusted for height and position.
□
Moistener pads. Verify that moistener
pads are not plugged.
Operating Parameter Changes
-
Increase solution mix ratio to 23.7 L (6.25 gal.) per 360 gal.
(full tank) of water.
-
For normal to tough staining conditions, operate flush system
at one end of field.
-
For extreme staining conditions, operate flush system at both
ends of field.
-
If spindle buildup continues, increase solution pressure in
34 kPa (0.34 bar) (5 psi) increments.
