Adjust Cotton Fan Belts
|
Annually
|
CAUTION: Shut off engine and remove key BEFORE making fan belt
adjustments.
IMPORTANT: Correct belt tension MUST be maintained to avoid
premature wear and belt damage.
-
Turn key off and remove from switch.
-
To inspect belts and check adjustment:
-
Remove side inspection door (A) on both sides of machine.
-
Inspect belts for damage and replace if necessary.
-
If end of spring gauge (C) is not within width of washer (F),
adjustment is necessary.
-
To adjust cotton fan belts:
-
Open belly shield (B) to obtain access to both fan adjusters.
-
Loosen jam nut (D).
-
Tighten or loosen adjusting nut (E) until end of spring gauge
(C) is within the THICKNESS of washer (F).
-
Tighten jam nut (D).
-
Close belly shield and install side inspection doors.
-
If belts are replaced, seat new belts as follows:
-
Start engine and run at slow idle.
-
Engage cotton fans.
-
Run engine at full speed for 3 minutes.
-
Reduce engine speed to slow idle and turn off fans.
-
Repeat steps b—d three more times.
-
Stop engine and remove key.
-
Check adjustment of belts and readjust if necessary.
-
Check tension on new fan belts periodically. (See Break-in section
for intervals.)
