Rotary knives plug.

Cotton bolls entering knife.

Adjust height sensing so knife is just below low bolls.

 

Dirt entering knife.

Adjust height sensing and picking unit tilt. (See Adjusting Row Unit Tilt in the Row Units section and Operate and Adjust Header Height Control in the Header Height Control section.)

 

Knife clearance too large.

Adjust knife clearance. (See Adjust Stationary Knife in the Vari-Row System section.)

 

Leaning stalks.

Adjust machine travel opposite direction of leaning plants.

 

Excessive material under rotary knife.

Remove stalks and foreign matter from rotary knife area.

 

Lift frame not level.

Level lift frame.

Front feeder plugs.

Stalks and dirt deposited on stationary knife floor.

Remove dirt and stalks from floor.

If excessive amount of dirt present, adjust height sensing.

 

Leaning stalks.

Adjust machine travel opposite direction of leaning plants.

If excessive amount of dirt present, adjust height sensing.

 

Damaged gridbars.

Inspect gridbars and replace bent and worn parts.

Rear feeder plugs.

Cut plants not feeding laterally in rear drum.

Set picking unit tilt. (See Adjusting Row Unit Tilt in the Row Units section.)

 

Foreign material wrapped around shaft.

Remove guards, then inspect and clean.

Spindle wrap on lower spindles.

Spindles not being cleaned.

Add recommended amount of John Deere Spindle Cleaner to solution tank. (See Using John Deere Spindle Cleaner in the Moistener System section.)

Adjust doffers.
