A - Dipstick
It is vital to maintain engine oil at correct levels to ensure
a long service life. DO NOT add makeup oil unless oil
level is at or below ADD mark on dipstick.
DO NOT operate engine when oil level is below ADD mark.
DO NOT fill above crosshatched pattern or FULL mark, whichever
is present. Oil level anywhere within crosshatch marks is acceptable.
Verify that dipstick is fully seated in housing before removing
to check oil level.
Check oil level with machine parked on level ground.
NOTE: The most accurate oil level reading is obtained when engine
is cold, before starting engine for the day.
-
Verify that machine is parked on a level surface.
-
If engine has been running, allow oil to drain into oil pan
for 10 minutes after engine is shut off.
-
Remove rear engine compartment cover.
-
Remove dipstick (A) and check oil level. Oil level anywhere
within crosshatched area is acceptable. If oil level is at or below
ADD mark, add oil to proper level. (See DIESEL ENGINE OIL in Fuel,
Lubricants, and Coolants section for proper oil.)
-
If oil level is low, check for signs of leaks.
-
Install dipstick and engine compartment cover.
