A - Spindle Socket

CAUTION: If a unit falls or you or others become entangled in the moving parts of a unit, serious injury or death can result. Lower units completely or raise units and lower unit safety stops before working on or around units. Shut off engine and remove key before approaching units.

To prevent bevel gears from meshing too tightly, there must be a slight amount of end play in the spindle. Place L2889N shims 0.13 mm (0.005-in.) under spindle nut, if necessary. DO NOT use more than two shims. Tighten to specification.
