Attach Anhydrous Ammonia Tank

  1. CAUTION: Read all information in Safety section before working with anhydrous ammonia systems. Exposure to anhydrous ammonia can cause serious injury or death to you or others. Always wear protective clothing and equipment. (See WORKING WITH ANHYDROUS AMMONIA in Safety section.)

Position tank and machine DOWN WIND from where you are standing.

    A - Intermediate Support

    B - Rear Hitch Plate

  2. CAUTION: A safety chain will help control drawn equipment should it accidentally separate from rear hitch. A runaway machine can cause serious injury or death to you or others. Using appropriate adapter parts, attach chain to tractor or implement rear hitch. Provide only enough slack in chain to permit turning. See your John Deere dealer for a chain with a strength rating equal to or greater than gross weight of towed machine(s).

CAUTION: When attaching anhydrous ammonia tank to implement rear hitch, route safety chain through intermediate support (A) and secure tightly around rear hitch plate (B).

Attach anhydrous ammonia tank to rear hitch using locking pin and secure with safety chain. Consult anhydrous ammonia dealer on securing safety chain correctly to hitches.

    Emergency Water Supply

Inspect anhydrous ammonia supply hose, tank, valves, hose bleeder valves and gauges. If any are damaged return tank to supplier. Verify emergency water supply is full and operational.

  4. CAUTION: Carrying supply hose by valve handle (B) can lead to exposure to anhydrous ammonia and cause serious injury or death to you or others. Always hold supply hose away from valve.

NOTE: Emergency disconnect is designed to pull apart in event of a hitch failure and is not a recommended connection point. All lines MUST be bled prior to reinstalling or assembling supply hose.

    Tank Withdrawal Valve

    A - O-Ring

Verify O-ring (A) is present on tank withdrawal valve and in good condition. Faulty or missing O-rings can cause anhydrous ammonia leaks. Exposure to anhydrous ammonia can cause serious injury or death to you or others.

    Hook supply hose to tank.

  6. CAUTION: Open nurse tank valve ONLY when applying. Close nurse tank valve ALWAYS before transport. Transporting machine with valve open could allow for large quantities of anhydrous ammonia to be accidentally released. Exposure to anhydrous ammonia can cause serious injury or death to you or others.
