Adjusting High Speed Fertilizer Openers Down-Pressure—Tractors With Electro/Hydraulic Closed Center Systems

  1. IMPORTANT: Adjust fertilizer opener down-pressure, as required, to keep openers in firm contact with soil, but DO NOT use more down-pressure than necessary or excessive wear and damage to machine could result.

    A tractor with an open-center hydraulic system MUST BE equipped with Open Center Hydraulic Kit with Change Valve. (See your John Deere dealer for installation.)

    B - Time Detent Knob

    Press SCV I selector button (A). Time detent knob (B) must be set to “continuous”.



  3. IMPORTANT: 11 and 15-Row—Left-hand valve controls main frame and right hand valve controls wings. To make machine operate correctly, VERIFY BOTH PRESSURE GAUGES ARE SET AT THE SAME PRESSURE.

    23-Row—Left-hand pressure valve controls left machine side and right-hand pressure valve controls right machine side. To make machine operate correctly, VERIFY BOTH PRESSURE GAUGES ARE SET AT THE SAME PRESSURE.

    While watching pressure gauge (A), adjust down-pressure to desired setting by rotating knob (B). Once set, lock knob in position with collar (C).



  4. Make a trial pass in field.

  5. If High Speed Fertilizer Openers penetration is not satisfactory, adjust hydraulic pressure as required.
