For the base cutter automatic control system to be active:
-
The harvester needs to be traveling forward.
-
The forward harvest functions need to be engaged.
-
The base cutter automatic control system switch should be engaged.
-
The engine should be above 2000 rpm.
-
Base cutter pressure should be above the limit determined in "Calibrating Base Cutter Pressure Limit".
Base Cutter Automatic Control Operating Procedures
1.
With harvester engine running, turn on harvesting function and position harvester to begin.
2.
When desired cutting height is reached, check base cutter pressure gauge.
3.
Using the joystick, slightly tilt harvester so that the base cutter blades do not touch the dirt and back up the harvester a few meters.
4.
Adjust base cutter pressure to level off the pressure indicated in the pressure gauge.
5.
Position the sensitivity adjustment handle to 40.
|
6.
Activate the system through base cutter automatic control ON/OFF switch and wait three seconds before resuming harvesting.
NOTE:
If base cutter pressure increases and the harvester begins to tilt, slowly turn the position button/base cutter pressure counterclockwise, until desired pressure is reached.
Adjust sensitivity when the system delays in altering pressure.
7.
At row end, lift up harvester and the base cutter automatic control system will be disabled.
NOTE:
If the harvester goes offline raising the crop dividers only, the base cutter automatic control system also disables due to the break in base cutter pressure.
If the harvester is stopped, the system will be disabled and the engine speed decreased.
8.
At the start of harvesting, the contact between base cutters and the cane provokes a pressure increase that is interpreted by a controller which automatically activates the cut control system.
