Cleaning Primary Element
NOTE:
The primary element may be cleaned up to six times, but must be replaced every 500 hours. Do not clean the safety element. Install a new one. Never run the engine without both filters in place.
1.
Gently tap (A) the sides of the primary element with the palm of your hand, not on a hard surface.
2.
Use a John Deere AR62377 Dry Element Cleaner Gun (B) and compressed air under 2.1 bar-210 kPa (30 PSI).
CAUTION:
To prevent possible injury from flying debris reduce compressed air to less than 2.1 bar-210 kPa (30 PSI) when using for cleaning purposes. Wear eye protection and clear area of bystanders.
3.
Hold the nozzle 2.5 cm (0.98 in.) from the inside surface of the filter. Direct air through the filter from the inside to outside while moving the air gun up and down the pleats. Be careful not to "tear" the filter. Directing air against the outside would force dirt further into element.
4.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 to remove additional dirt.
5.
Inspect filter after cleaning and discard if any damage is found.
