Knock Down Roller
The dual knock down rollers push the cane forward, before it is cut by the basecutter, allowing it to fall in the optimal position for feeding into the harvester. The knock down rollers also comb the cane in order for it to line up with the harvester and enter the throat in a uniform manner. These rollers also help to feed heavily lodged cane into the throat and to prevent it from getting hung up on the front of the harvester.
Operating Knock Down Roller
1.
Positioning the roller too low will cause the cane to split when cut by the basecutter.
2.
Positioning the roller too high may allow shorter cane to enter the harvester still standing. The standing cane will not feed properly into the feed rollers and there may be some crop damage or loss.
3.
Proper positioning should allow the cane to enter correctly and there should be little or no crop damage.
