Proper Fluid Inflation

Checking fluid-filled tires with a standard air gauge will ruin the gauge. A special inflation gauge is available for testing tires filled with water or antifreeze solutions. Be sure to wash out the gauge with clear water after using on tires filled with calcium chloride. To determine the true operating pressure performance for a fluid-inflated tire, the valve should be at the bottom of the tire. The recommended filling level is at 75% or filled to valve level, with the valve at the top of tire. Inflation pressure should be checked daily (make certain valve is at bottom of rim), using an accurate air-water gauge. Because the air volume is relatively small, any air leak in a liquid-weighted tire results in a much greater decrease in pressure than when the tire is filled 100% with air. Always use sealing valve caps to prevent loss of air.
