Before You Start

Perform the following procedures before operating the mower:

• Check for missing knives (See REPLACING KNIVES in Service section).
• Inspect knives for wear or damage (See INSPECTING KNIVES in Service section).
• Check gear case oil level (See Lubrication and Maintenance section).
• Check belt adjustment (See ADJUSTING DRIVE BELT in Service section).
• Check hardware torque (See SCREW TORQUE VALUES chart in Specifications section).
• Lubricate the mower as shown in the Lubrication and Maintenance section.
